Pro-Future Faith: Ecology as the Heart of Theology
Three Part Series – Lecture 2
Grace Limits 101: Nature, Human Nature, and Death
Staying Sane, Sober, and Empowered in Hard Times
Science, ecology, theology, and inspiration must creatively dance and give birth to something new if humanity is to survive the 21st century. Given our impact on Earth’s climate, the seas, and other species, we are already in the early stages of, what could be called, The Great Reckoning. The good news is that this could also be The Great Homecoming: The prodigal species, after squandering our inheritance, comes home to Reality. The first program will provide an evidence-based view of “God’s Time” and “God’s Nature” that bridges the believer vs. nonbeliever divide and provides science-based inspiration for these times of climate chaos, political turmoil, economic unrest, and other large-scale challenges. The second lecture will highlight why ecology (“grace limits”) must be the heart of theology and explores a “facts as God’s native tongue” look at our outer nature, inner nature, social nature, and mortal nature. The third lecture will showcase the evolutionary purpose of religion and the religious necessity of science, and will conclude by offering tools and spiritual practices for staying sane, sober, and empowered in chaotic and contracting times.
